Manado is also famous for its crystal clear waters and reefs.

The ocean around Bunaken Island is world-renowned for its diving and snorkelling sights. The Bunaken National Marine Park has one of the highest levels of biodiversity in the region, with over 70% of known fish species in the Indo-Western Pacific, more genera of coral than Hawaii and home to 7 of 8 great clam species.

It’s also a shining example of how locals (about 20,000 people live in the national park) co-exist with tourists, national park administration, and government to protect this jewel.
