This art was commissioned to accompany a short story in Woroni’s Edition 10 of 2018.
The short story is bilingual in Spanish and English, entitled El Arbol Llanto, meaning the Weeping Willow, and features on page 20 of the printed newspaper.
The story is a parable for environmentalism and humanity’s impact on the natural environment. A human hunter killed a pure white bird, who is protected by a tree. The tree’s sorrow and its search for the body of the bird gives rise to the name weeping willow.
